Duane Herrmann

Early praise for his work includes, "I prize your book (Whispers Shouting Glory); it reaches out for the elements of our lives and does so in a context I know and cherish myself," from William Stafford, who had held the position now known as Poet Laureate of the United States, to that of Roger White: "Your poems are very clear and uncluttered, which makes them most appealing; there is nothing contrived or artificial in them and the poetic voice is unaffected and pure," to the comment on his most recent collection, Ichnographical:173, that it "demands to be savored."

Born in 1951, Herrmann grew up seeing the North American Baha'i House of Worship in family movies, with no one knowing what it was. He personally encountered the Baha'i community in 1969 and embraced it later that year. He has been active since then, homefront pioneering, first while in college and later, serving on several local Spiritual Assemblies and international teaching in his great grandfather's native Bavarian village. And he writes: poetry, history, stories, memoirs.
